Recycling Post Consumer Waste

Wrekin Windows has for over a decade been recycling all the post industrial off cuts involved in the manufacturing process. Wrekin has now taken that process a stage further by recycling all old windows that need replacing thus being able to offer closed loop recycling for the first time in the UK.

Worker recycling windowsAfter major investment our sister company - Dekura - has set up a dedicated post-consumer waste recycling plant able to turn 20 year old windows back into reusable low maintenance building products. Until recently the windows being replaced have been sent to landfill as no alternative existed.

Wrekin can offer a service second to none by collecting the old windows in specially designed trolleys, which are then taken to a size reduction plant in the UK and then back to Telford to be processed through our advanced plant back into pellet or compound ready for its next useful life.

Due to our continuous investment we can also recycle the rubber and metal found in most windows ensuring that at least 95% of the old windows are used again. We offer full traceability and paperwork compliance plus advice on best and most environmentally friendly way to collect, store and reuse the windows and doors.

RCM - The green material

Dekura recycling plantWrekin Windows has always been at the forefront of bringing new and innovative products to the market. Recycled Composite Material (RCM) is no exception and expands Wrekin Windows environmental credentials yet further. RCM is now used as reinforcement in all of our windows and doors.

This can mean that up to 30% of the PVC-U window being fitted is recycled material. Manufactured from waste PVC-U the new reinforcement is now used as an alternative to traditional steel or aluminium sections.
